"Can you ship in 45 days?"
Sure — every factory will say yes in a sales call.
The honest question is different:
Can you ship in 45 days
when a fabric mill misses the dye lot?
When a port strike eats three days?
When your buyer changes the trim
two weeks into production?
That's the lead time that actually matters.
Not the one on the quote.
The one that survives the real season.
After 18 years in apparel, here's what I've learned:
A factory's true delivery record
isn't its best month.
It's its worst week.
Ask your supplier about that week.
The answer tells you almost everything.
What's the worst lead-time disaster you've recovered from?
